嶋田 容子
保育室の音環境改善の必要性と方法について、複数の園や自治体での講演や各園との協議をおこない、その結果、いくつかの保育施設で吸音工事が実施された。本研究の協力園となった園では、室内の天井全面を吸音効果の高い天井材に貼り替える工事をおこなったため、室内音響は大きく改善されることが見込まれた。そこで、音環境の変化による子どもの行動への影響をはかるため、この保育室において調査を実施した。吸音措置の前3日間と後3日間にわたり、室内全体を撮すビデオ及び各テーブルに設置した隠しマイクによって、自由遊び時間における室内の子どもの行動を記録した。ビデオとマイクを回収した後、保育者の介入のない自由遊びが開始された後の30分間について、子ども同士の会話の書き起こしをおこない、分析の対象とした。その結果、吸音措置の後では、措置前に比べて、各テーブルにおける小集団の会話がより持続的になった傾向がみられた。結果は現在分析を続けており、日本赤ちゃん学会等で発表を予定している。 また、前年度に実施した、音環境改善の前後における遊びのビデオ記録ついてさらに分析をおこない、集団形成の人数増加だけでなく、独りでいる子どもの行動に質的変化がみられたことを示した。具体的には、目的を見いだせずに徘徊したり寝転がったりする行動が減り、独り遊びに集中する人数が増えた。この分析について論文にまとめ、子どもの発達と環境に関する国際誌に投稿中である。 本研究は、基礎研究の知見と実践知との融合を重視して進めている。保育の音環境と関係の深い保育の色・光環境についても、学会等を通じて議論が発展し、このテーマについて視覚研究者と共同で論文を発表した。, Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (C), 2020/04 -2023/03, Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (C), Doshisha University - Early Years Teachers' Professional Development focused "voice and sound " in the classroom using ECERS score and observational data of the sound

ECERS research was conducted at 92 preschool classrooms located in Hanshin area. The average of the total scores is 3.66(1:Inadequate-7:Excellent). The range of sound level of 7 classes taken from 92classrooms and 6 preschool classrooms of one kindergarten located in same area was 60-90dB.Sound environment of classrooms is affected by the materials and structure of the buildings and the activities of children and teachers. Teachers tend to be reluctant to recognize the sound in the classrooms is too noisy. It is required that teachers accept the numeric data of the sound occured in the classrooms and understand the relationship between sound including voice and the quality of education. The present project aimed for uncovering an aversive influence of noise in nursery rooms on auditory perception in children, using OAE measurement and the selective attention task that demands identification of an auditory target stimulus. As the result, the ability to recognize sound signals in daily-life environments was shown to develop significantly during preschool years. Our acoustic measurements revealed that “multi-age class in open-space”, which is increasingly used in Japan, tend to become noisy as reverberation time extended. The tendency was attenuated after applying a reconstruction of the space with a sound-absorbing material. In the present project, we recorded private vocalization of infants and children with autism spectrum disorder in their home. Sound patterns of their vocalization and their activities were coded. The results suggest that their vocalization pattern changed according to change in their activities. Samples of children’s vocalization when alone were collected in nurseries to find out categories of nonverbal private vocalization. Additionally, we explored sound environments potentially supporting the spontaneous vocalization. Using a noise meter, noise level and its sources were assessed in nurseries, and we investigated whether multiple loud vocalization are attributed to noisy environment. Scale for sound environment was also administered to develop a tool for evaluation method. 生後18ヶ月・24ヶ月児における他者との唱和（本研究では互いの声を積極的に重複させることを唱和とする）について、前年度に引き続き実験をおこなった。自由遊びの中で大人が乳幼児に声を重複させる条件と交替で応答する条件を設定し、それぞれの条件における乳幼児の発声パターンと表出された行動を分析した。重複条件では、音楽的要素を含む行動（リズミカルな反復・バンギングなど）が多くみられた。交代条件では、社会的働きかけ（リーチング、共同注意の乳幼児による開始、言語発話等）が多くみられた。4ヶ月児・12ヶ月児ではそのような条件の有意差はみられず、生後18ヶ月以降に現れる特徴と考えられた。生後18ヶ月以降に重複を許容する音声コミュニケーションの形式を理解する可能性が示唆された。 次に保育施設において、唱和に類するコミュニケーションの観察をおこなった。多人数の乳幼児が過ごす保育施設では音環境にばらつきがあり、唱和のような音声コミュニケーションが音環境に関連する可能性が考えられた。そこで、音環境の詳細な評価と、それぞれの環境における唱和等の音声コミュニケーションの関連に焦点を当てて調査をおこなった。騒音計を用いて保育活動中の保育室の音圧レベルを測定し、音圧が特に高くなった場合におこなわれていた音声コミュニケーションを録音から分析した。その結果、複数の園で、音圧レベルが110回を上回る場合があり、その回数には園によって差があった。音圧レベルの高い音は高頻度で「多人数混在音声」によるものであり、唱和のような音声コミュニケーションが難しい状況であった。音環境により、利用可能な音声コミュニケーションの種類が異なる可能性が示唆された。, 日本学術振興会, 科学研究費助成事業, 2013/04 -2018/03, 特別研究員奨励費, 同志社大学 - Cultural and ecological foundations of education and learning: An anthropological study on rhythm, imitation, and exchange

The primary investigator has clarified the system by which responsibility is formed culturally, based on our concept that both child and caregiver develop responsibility gradually, according to their ability to respond during interactions. Based on these studies, this project aims to reconsider the foundations of human education and learning. Thus in our research, carried out in countries in Asia and Africa, including Japan, we collected and analyzed empirical data related to (1) the development of rhythm, (2) the development of imitation, and (3) the development of exchange in caregiver-child (from fetus to four year-old) interactions, and clarified the cultural and ecological structures that shape the patterns of education and learning. For this purpose, our research team held data session for 30 times, and the Seminar of Anthropology of Education and Learning for 16 times during the research period. 乳児の自発的発声は、必ずしも会話のようにターンテイキングの形をとらず、異なる形式と生態学的な意味を持つ可能性がある。本研究は、コミュニケーションのなかで音楽的な発声が乳児の側から自発するきっかけについて検討をおこなった。特に自発的発声が他者との共鳴を通じて音楽性を帯びていく可能性を調べるため、乳児と他者が互いの声を重ね合う状況に注目し、観察および実験的な検討をおこなった。乳児と他者の発声が重複する状況を「唱和」と操作的に定義して検討をおこなった。1．自然な乳児・養育者相互行為において「唱和」の生じる様相をとらえるため、乳児のいる家庭で縦断観察をおこなった。月に一度、乳児と養育者との自然な相互行為を撮影し、そのなかで乳児と親あるいは兄姉との発声がどの程度の比率で重なっているか、それぞれ分析した。その結果、生後8ヶ月から生後18ヶ月で重なりの比率そのものは有意に減少したが、その相手が18ヶ月児では多くが幼い兄姉となっていた。この変化から、会話のルールを理解しつつある18ヶ月児が、大人との間では唱和の形式を用いず、主に幼児との間でのみ用いていた可能性が考えられる。2．18ヶ月児と母親が10分間の自由遊びの中で声を重ねる条件・重ねない条件という二つの実験状況を設定し、各条件における乳児の発声行動を分析した。その結果、声を重ねる条件では反復的な非言語発声が、重ねない条件では言語的発声が多く生じたことが示された。これらの結果は、唱和というコミュニケーションの形式を乳児が認識し、さらにその形式において原初的な音楽性を帯びた音声を発する可能性を示唆した。, 文部科学省, 科学研究費補助金(若手研究(B)), 2012 -2014, Principal investigator, Competitive research funding, 若手研究(B), 京都大学 - Cultural formation of responsibility in caregiver-child interactions

Acoustic signals as used in speech communication, typically language and music, were investigated in terms of temporal articulation and temporal-structure perception from an interdisciplinary viewpoint to integrate perceptual psychology, linguistics, and speech science. We examined how the acoustic temporal change of linguistic speech and the mechanism of rhythm perception are connected with each other.
