    本課題の目標はパーソナルな小型脳動脈評価技術の開発である。手で触れて感じるように安全かつ非侵襲に頚動脈波を計測し、頭蓋内脳主幹動脈の閉塞や硬さ評価を目指す。まず安価な超音波センサを応用したポータブルシステムを開発し脈波計測を実現する。また脈波の臨床計測により脳動脈硬化や閉塞による頚動脈波の波形変化を明らかにし、その特徴量解析に機械学習を利用して脳動脈の簡易評価技術を確立する。将来的には個人レベルの脈波による脳動脈スクリーニングを超え、オンライン診療や脈波ビッグデータ取得にも拡張できるインターネット脈波計測システムの構築も視野に入り、医工連携の生体情報計測システム開発研究へと広がる。, JST, 研究成果展開事業 A-STEPトライアウトタイプ, 2021/04 -2022/03, Principal investigator, 同志社大学

    In this study, we investigated a method to control the molecular orientation of liquid crystal and the application to optical measurement techniques. As the results, the relationship between the ultrasound vibration and the liquid crystal molecular orientation was evaluated quantitatively. A method to control the lens aperture and three-dimensional focusing including the radial direction of the lens were realized.     A numerical simulation system of a real-size 3-D model of the human radius including the cancellous bone part inside for calculating the propagation of ultrasound was created by using a high-resolution CT device for deriving the X-ray image of human bone. As a result, it was realized to investigate the behavior of the ultrasound when the bone density or the physical parameters of the bone were changed. The investigation using the visco-elastic FDTD method was also performed. Here, some interesting effects of the viscosity of bone material on the parameters of the received waveforms were found.     A non contact and non destructive measurement system of longitudinal wave velocity in GaN crystals was successfully developed by using a Brillouin light scattering technique. This technique enables to measure velocities in the GHz range, where the piezoelectricity in the conductive material is expected to appear. Using this technique, we could obtain the temperature dependence of longitudinal wave velocity in the conductive GaN crystal.   • ハイパーソニック圧電顕微鏡の開発

    圧電材料に応力が加わるとひずみが生じ、内部に圧電分極が発生する。この分極の内部電界は逆圧電効果により、元のひずみと逆方向にひずみが発生させ、ひずみ量を減少させる。つまり圧電性のある材料に応力を加えると、圧電性がない材料に比べて弾性が高くなる。したがって、この弾性変化を測定すれば圧電定数を評価できる。また、材料の弾性は縦波・横波音速から測定可能である。本研究は、このような発想と代表研究者の「顕微ブリユアン光散乱測定技術」を組み合わせ、超高周波超音波(ハイパーソニック)領域であるGHz域の非接触・非破壊、縦波・横波同時測定により圧電薄膜の局所的な圧電定数測定を目指す。, JST, シーズ発掘試験, 2009/04 -2010/03, Principal investigator, Competitive research funding, 同志社大学

  • Development of Brillouin scattering technique to characterize minute spatial distribution of elastic properties of thin films

    In order to realize the non-destructive and non-contact Brillouin scattering measurement technique for the characterization of elastic property distribution in thin films, following studies were performed by the support of this program. The microscopic system for Raman scattering was applied to this optical system and realized the measurement with the spatial resolution of 10 micron meter. The introduction of Reflection Induced theta A (RIGA) scattering also enabled the simultaneous measurements of the light scatterings from hypersonic longitudinal and shear phonons. The degradation of sample surfaces by the laser irradiation was not observed. In addition to the improvement of signal to noise ratio at the photon counting part, we have tried to amplify the scattering light intensity making use of the induced hypersonic waves in the sample. Especially, we made effort to amplify the very weak light scattering from thermal shear phonons. For this purpose, we have fabricated the uniaxially oriented ZnO polycrystallites films on the sample by magnetron sputtering. We have then succeeded in fabricating the film whose resonant frequency is around several hundreds MHz. Making use of the higher resonance mode of this film, shear waves in the GHz range was successfully emitted to the samples. These coherent hypersonic waves were observed as a very intensive Brillouin scattering peak in the measured data, showing the asymmetric spectra. The intensive peak shortened the necessary time to observe the scattering in the sample and improved the signal to noise ratio and the measurement precision. For the automatic measurement of this microscopic Brilllouin scattering, the automatic position control system of the sample holder was constructed.   • Nondestructive evaluation of thin layers and films by a Brillouin scattering spectroscopy

    The purpose of this project is to achieve the nondestructive evaluation of elastic properties in thin metal layers and polymer films by a Brillouin scattering spectroscopy, which cannot have been performed by the conventional ultrasonic techniques. By introducing new measurement apparatus and precise temperature control, we could succeed in long time and continuous measurement of sample velocity, under different physical conditions such as temperature and stress. A continuous measurement of longitudinal wave velocity in thin polymer films (thickness several microns) could be performed by using the 90A optical geometry and tensile test apparatus. The ultra-drawing process in a film was clearly observed as an increase of velocity and showed the appearance of anisotropy. By changing the polarization of incident laser light, we also succeeded in the continuous and nondestructive measurement of birefringence in a film. This method was also applied to the evaluation of adhesive polymer layer under the tensile stress. As for Sic nano layers on the Si wafer, the very weak Brillouin scattering peaks owing to the surface Rayleigh waves could be observed. Although the thickness of the layer was much smaller than the wavelength of the light, the Rayleigh wave velocity clearly depended on the crystalline structure of Sic layer, showing the similar behavior with the velocity of bulk Sic.   • Establishment of two dimensional bone density distribution imaging technology by an ultrasonic method and development of diagnosis system of osteoporosis

    1. Realization of high resolution two dimensional imaging of bone density. High resolution focusing ultrasonic transmitter and receiver have been developed by use of piezopolymer and the lateral resolution (the ultrasonic beam width) of 1.6 mm has been achieved. Two dimensional imaging of bone density of bovine cancellous bone specimens (in vitro) and the distal end of radius of human subjects (in vivo) has been realized by the novel ultrasonic method using the high resolution ultrasonic transducers with mechanical two dimensional scanning. 2. Quantitative evaluation of the density and the elastic modulus of the trabecular structure of cancellous bone. (1) The causality between the ultrasonic propagation parameters (propagation speeds and transmitted signal amplitudes of both the fast and slow waves) and the cancellous bone density has been revealed. The novel ultrasonic image is compared with the micro focus X-ray computed tomography image. (2) The ultrasonic wave propagation path for in vivo measurement of cancellous bone is modelized and the density and the elastic modulus of cancellous bone is formulated and expressed by the ultrasonic wave parameters and the electro-acoustic conversion parameters. A new quantitative measurement method of bone density and bone elasticity is proposed. (3) Computer programs for two dimensional bone density imaging based on the ultrasonic transmitted waves are developed. 3. Analysis of mechanical properties and trabecular structure of cancellous bone. Three dimensional trabecular structure of cancellous bone has been analyzed and mechanical properties (load characteristics and fracture behavior) have been studied. The mechanical properties of cancellous bone are compared with the bone density value measured by the ultrasonic method. 4. Development and evaluation of tissue-mimicking materials (phantom) and artificial bone. Ultrasonic wave characteristics of cancellous bone mimicking material (porous honeycomb ceramics) and soft-tissue mimicking material (particle compounded gels) have been studied as standard media (phantom) to calibrate the ultrasonic diagnostic equipment. Artificial bone made by wallastinite ceramics, artificial articular cartilage using PVA-Hydrogel have been studied. 5. Future perspective of the researches. The next stage of the researches is to establish a bone strength index based on the ultrasonic or elastic properties and on the statistical analysis of huge clinical data.   • Debye効果を用いる衝撃性大振幅超音波の新しい計測方法の確立

    2000年度(平成12年度)において下記の検討を行い成果を得た。 (1)超音波振動電位の電解質液濃度依存性 超音波振動電位を電極対プローブ法で測定すると、検出電位は超音波振動電位と音響双極子特性との積となる。電極対プローブ法で超音波振動電位を求めると電解質溶液KClの場合、周波数2[MHz]以下では濃度が10^<-1>[mol/l]〜10^<-3>[mol/l]の範囲で約50[μV]一定である。2[MHz]以上の周波数では電位は減少の傾向を持つことが明らかになった。また濃度が0すなわち純水の場合にも超音波振動電位(約20[μV])を生じることも明らかになった。超音波振動電位(Debye効果)を用いて衝撃性大振幅超音波を計測する場合、電解質溶液として水を利用できることは新しい手法の超音波センサーの実用化において極めて重要な知見と考えられる。 (2)衝撃性大振幅超音波に対する応答 水中にて衝撃火花放電により発生した衝撃性大振幅超音波を金属製回転楕円体反射面で集束させて電極対プローブ法で検出した。集束点で音圧の最大値は約1000[kPa]であった。この衝撃性大振幅超音波を広帯域・高分解能標準ハイドロホンで観測した結果と比較すると、電極対プローブで検出した振動電位はほぼ理想的な音響双極子特性を持ち、逆双極子特性による補正演算を行って衝撃波の正確な波形と振幅を計測できることが明らかになった。機械共振系を持たない電極対プローブでは衝撃波の鋭い立上がり部を正確に観測できる特長を持っていることが確かめられた。 (3)超音波振動電位の高周波特性 超音波振動電位は2[MHz]以上で減少の傾向を持つ。この効果は電解質溶液の粘性とイオン雰囲気の緩和現象によるものと推測される。この粘性の影響を明らかにするために電解質溶液のMHz周波数帯における動的粘性を測定する装置を開発し、水に近い低粘性溶液の粘性測定が可能となった。2[MHz]以上の高周波帯で振動電位を電極対プローブで検出する場合には電解質溶液の粘性およびイオン雰囲気の緩和現象、さらに電極寸法と形状による局所的な電界の歪み、電極界面の電位分布等の影響を詳細に解明することが必要である。, 日本学術振興会, 科学研究費助成事業 萌芽的研究, 1998 -2000, 萌芽的研究, 同志社大学
