  We investigate the impact of airport concessions on the technical efficiency of 19 Japanese major airports using a multi-output stochastic frontier model to a panel data set between FY2016 and FY2020. Concession airports, which can manage total activities, are found to be more efficient than other airports. Furthermore, we show that the higher the proportion of international passengers, the more efficient major airports are.
