Profile
芸術学・写真史・視覚文化論専攻。
主に近現代の日本における風景やトポグラフィ（場所表象）の果たした社会的な機能について研究しています。具体的に扱ってきたのは、江戸泥絵、横浜写真、20世紀初頭のアマチュア芸術写真、マスメディアにおける京都表象など。
さらにはトポグラフィ論から発展して、考現学／路上観察、鉄道写真、仏像写真などもトポグラフィ論の一環として考えています。
また、ポピュラー／ヴァナキュラーな視覚文化／物質文化にも興味を持っています。

Despite various obstacles, such as the impossibility of international conferences and face-to-face meetings due to the Corona pandemic, this study was able to achieve various results through open seminars, including online seminars, online seminars organized by the research members, and the writing of several research reports. 今年度は年初に前年度までに構築した作品データベースの精度向上に取り組んだ。データベースに登録した来歴（広告業界誌『プレスアルト』に記載されていたリストの情報）と、広告現物スナップ写真（画像情報）との照合の精度を高めるための調査を行った。この結果およそ8割だった画像情報と文字情報との合致率を９割超にまで上げることができた。また作品データベースとは別に、冊子体のためのデータベースを構築した。『プレスアルト』311冊のうち戦後版の238冊の目次の文字を起こしし、これに２年目に行った全ての冊子のページをPDF化したデータと、巻号と発行年月日とを加えたもので、冊子体のPDF資料を目次タイトルで検索・閲覧できるデータベースとなった。 年度中盤には二つのデータベースの直近の安定的な運用と、将来的な公開を目指すことを目的として、立命館アート・リサーチセンターの2018年度共同研究課題に応募し採択された。同センターの支援を受け、11月から12月にかけて、上記二つのデータベースを同センターが管理するサーバーに移行する作業を行った。これにより以降は共同研究者が同一のデータを確認しながら研究を進めた。（現時点では共同研究者限定公開） 研究成果の一般公開を目的として、展覧会「プレスアルト誌と戦後関西の広告」を大阪市江之子島文化芸術創造センターに於いて開催した。期間は10月2日～10月13日で、展示は「プレスアルト」の広告現物中身が見える工夫をしたガラスケース、付帯広告物の一部として広告およそ60点、プレスアルトの表紙を見せる形での30冊の連続展示、および参考資料を加えて構成した。期間内（6日(土)）に同会場で共同研究者5名とともにシンポジウム「関西広告を開梱する」を開催した。多彩な広告文化と、評価の途上にある戦後関西の広告とデザインの新たな側面を、展示とシンポジウムという方式で広く一般の方々にわかりやすく示すことが出来た。, Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (C), 2016/04 -2020/03, Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (C), Doshisha University - Basic Studies for constructing a Pop-culture Aesthetics appllied the concept of "the Pop-culture World"

Five researchers held meetings many times and held conference opened to the public each year. We published the result of our research in the form of report book and website. We got so much reactions from other researchers and society.We organize round-table at the Congress of International Association of Aesthetics in Seoul, Koreal（2016） and the congress of International Association of Semiotic Studies in Kaunas, Lithuania (2017) and exchanged opinions with foreign researchers. These research activities have led to the construction of a new theoretical framework. First, the system of Niigata MALUI Regional Database was partly updated, to which about 50,000 images has been uploaded. Second, as the research report of our project, Harada Kenichi and Mizushima Hisamitsu edited and published in March 2018 Hands, Feet, Eyes, and Ears: Practices and Studies on the Regional Image Archives. The anthology contains 20 chapters, 13 of which were written by the principal/co-investigators of our project and 7 of which by researchers who had delivered papers in our workshops. “1968” is widely acknowledged as a turning point of postwar history in the Japanese society. At the same time, however, remarkable changes have occurred in various realms of arts and culture. We have investigated these changes through the collaboration of experts in visual culture, auditory culture, popular culture and media studies, employing the method of discourse analysis. As a result, we have clarified that the way of sensory perception or mentality changed fundamentally in this period, and caused the structural change of cultural framework and senses of value. Through this research, we had the study meetings several times and organized the big-scaled conferences in each year. Those results were published on internet and publication, so that a lot of researchers and general people had interest in our studies. We also published the study report in the final year. We organized a round-table at the international congress of semiotics in 2014 and discussed with many foreign researchers there.
