Profile
経済自由化やグローバル化の進展に対して、ラテンアメリカのフードシステムがどのように変化しているかを研究しています。生産者に加え、需給をつなぐ流通・加工業者やフードサービスの対応にも注目しています。これまで、ペルー、アルゼンチン、ブラジルなどで、輸出向けの青果物や穀類（トウモロコシ、大豆）、国内向けのブロイラーやジャガイモを取り上げたほか、大規模農業経営体の構造や経営管理手法について研究をしました。現在は、ラテンアメリカにおけるカカオ・チョコレート産業の成長について調査をしています。

Despite the slowdown of Latin American economies following the end of the commodity boom, exports of fresh fruits and vegetables (FFVs) from the region are increasing. Although FFV export is food export, it differs from the traditional agricultural export of the Prebisch–Singer hypothesis. FFVs are high-value exports, and demand in the international market is increasing. Further development of the FFV export industry would advance the economic growth of the region. This book analyzes the development of the FFV export industry in Peru from the perspective of industrial development led by domestic actors. This chapter explains optimism in FFV export in the historical context of economic development in Latin America and existing studies on the FFV export industry. Furthermore, this chapter presents the theoretical frameworks applied in the book, which include integration and upgrades in value chains, business strategies to overcome fluctuations in agriculture, and cluster development based on joint actions among actors in the industry., Springer, 2022 - The Next Generation of Agricultural Producers in Latin America

初年度は、コロナ問題により現地調査の実施を見送らざるを得なかった。しかし、11月、1月、3月に3回研究会を実施し、そのうちの最後の回は海外研究協力者の参加を得た。最初の研究会では、各自の現状認識を披露して共有するとともに、分析枠組みについての検討を行った。2回目の研究会では、村上より中南米の麻薬問題について歴史的な経緯も含め概略を説明するととにも、研究対象国であるペルーの位置づけ、そしてその中でのサンマルティン州の状況についてマクロの視点から分析した。ラテンアメリカの麻薬問題は1970年代以降の話であること、ペルーは伝統的なコカ葉栽培が行われてきたことを麻薬マフィアに悪用されたこと、サンマルティン州は20世紀末から今世紀の初めにかけてペルーで最大のコカ葉違法栽培地域となったが、その後代替作物化が進んだこと、などを説明した。3回目の研究会では、海外研究協力者より、気候変動課題と熱帯森林保全について、とりわけその保全ガバナンスの観点からグローバル、ラテンアメリカ地域、ペルー、サンマルティン州、同州の地域社会の多層別に現状と課題についての分析を披露し、ペルーでのガバナンス構築が弱く、国-州-地域社会に加え、政-財-社会の間の祖語や対立が目立ち、問題を複雑にしている現状を確認した。また、他の海外共同研究者の報告を踏まえつつ分析枠組みの検討を行って共有化を図るとともに、今後の研究計画の進め方ならびに協力体制を確認した。, Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research, 2021/10 -2025/03, Coinvestigator, Competitive research funding, Fund for the Promotion of Joint International Research (Fostering Joint International Research (B)), Kyoto University - The Evolution of Fresh Fruit Export Industry in Latin America: Strategy for the Sustainable Economic Development

近年ラテンアメリカの農産物輸出産業において、持続的な経済成長につながる新たな動きが生まれている。具体的には、消費者の需要に合わせて生鮮の果物や野菜を供給する青果物輸出産業の成長である。従来型のラテンアメリカの農産物輸出産業は、価格競争力のあるコモディティを市場取引経由で大量に供給してきた。それに対して青果物輸出産業は、バリューチェーンを構築することで付加価値の高い青果物を供給している。このバリューチェーンの構築が産業の競争力を生み、持続的な経済成長に寄与すると考えられる。 本研究では、ラテンアメリカの主要な青果物輸出国の中でも、比較的最近に輸出が拡大しているペルーを取り上げた。筆者はこれまでにペルーの青果物輸出についていくつかの成果を発表しているが、これらに新しいデータや、最近の調査で得られた情報を加えて分析し、The Development of Fruit and Vegetable Export Industry in Peru, SpringerBriefs in Economics, Singapore: Springer（https://link.springer.com/book/10.1007/978-981-16-9629-9）として2022年3月に出版した。 次の段階の目標として、対象となる国をチリやメキシコなど、ほかのラテンアメリカの主要青果物輸出国に広げ、青果物輸出産業がラテンアメリカの持続的な経済成長に資することができるかを考察することを予定していた。これについては、現地調査を実施する見込みが立っていないことから、今後の進め方について検討している。, Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (C), 2020/04 -2023/03, Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (C), Institute of Developing Economies, Japan External Trade Organization - Preparing a textbook and teaching materials for contemporary economies in Latin America

In recent years, there are significant changes in the input and output market of agricultural products, as well as the technology used in their production, processing and distribution. Adapting these changes, large-scale cereal producers in Brazil and fruit & vegetable producers in Peru are increasing their supply to the international market. The competitive advantages of these producers are not in the production itself, but in the procurement of resources from outside market, the management of these resources, and marketing products with more value added.
