内陸部からの海洋ごみ発生抑制に向けて、ソーシャルライセンス（社会的営業免許）の観点から主に河川におけるごみの調査とその削減に向けた国内外の取り組み事例の調査を積極的に実施した。 国内においては、全国初のレジ袋使用禁止条例を制定した京都府亀岡市をはじめ、国際的な海洋ごみ対策を積極的に進める長崎県対馬市や流域連携のもと海洋環境の保全に取り組む北海道網走市などを中心に自治体や地域住民の取り組みを調査するとともに、全国川ごみネットワークなど全国のNPOなどで構成されるプラットフォーム型の組織における内陸部からの海洋ごみの発生抑制に向けた取り組みを関係者への聞き取り調査を中心におこない、貴重な資料を得ることができた。 また、国外については、オランダ・アムステルダム市やアメリカ・ニューヨーク市における使い捨てプラスチック対策について行政機関およびNGOへの聞き取り調査を実施した。特にアムステルダム市においては、研究代表者がこれまでに取り組んできたオンラインごみマップを活用した市民参加型調査の取り組みについて報告するなど、これまでの研究成果の発信を行うこともできた。 海洋ごみ調査については、冠島（京都府舞鶴市）およびその周辺における漂着状況を調査し、流出国のデータ収集に取り組んでいる。 一連の研究成果については、国内学会では水資源・環境学会、環境経済・政策学会、景観生態学会、廃棄物資源循環学会、また国際学会では国際コモンズ学会等においても報告するとともに、各学会誌に論文計7本を投稿するなど、成果の公表につとめた。なお、最新の研究成果についても順次学会報告を行う（現在、国内学会1件を申込中）, Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (C), 2019/04 -2022/03, Principal investigator, Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (C), Osaka University of Commerce - Study on policy issues for the reduce of marine litter generation from inland areas

We worked on the fact-finding of plastic waste on the river, focusing on the Yodogawa river system. As a result of the survey in the Yodogawa river system and the Seto Inland Sea, the container and packaging of food and drink are most of the waste. In estimation of the spilled area of the garbage using the plastic bottle implemented in the Kanmuri-jima Island in Wakasa Bay, We revealed that the domestic origin accounted for the majority. The marine litter is to destroy our beautiful environment, and has an enormous influence on natural creatures. It is now a global environmental problem not limited to domestic. To solve the marine litter problem, we have to proceed to "restraint of littering" measures on the land area as well as "recovery and process" measures on the coast at the same time. For this purpose, it is important to monitor the litter by not only the administrative but also local residents with common tool.
