• US military station and sexual violence: Empowerment in peace and security

  The study points out that the political agenda of "conflict and sexual violence" in the international community fails to incorporate a post-colonial perspective in analyzing the current violent conflicts that are often originated in colonial past, and reinforces misogyny and racism by focusing on the current conflicts and sexual violence in these conflicts. In deepening the perspective of sexual violence in conflicts more structurally, empirical study is conducted on sexual violence and institutionalized sex industry and US military stationing in South Korea and the Philippines. • Okinawa Feminism and Peacebuilding: Military Occupation and Sexual Violence

  The focus of the research is placed on Okinawa Women Act Against Military Violence as a significant part of Okinawa Feminism as OWAAMV has addressed the issue of sexual violence by US soldiers stationed in Okinawa. OWAAMV has expanded further its transnational network to civil society in such areas as Korea, the US, or the UN. By strengthening the transnational network of solidarity to resist the military presence, they have offered clearer vision to pursue achievement of demilitarization rather than relocation of US military facilities. More cases of sexual assault by US soldiers during the US occupation period in Okinawa were found in the Okianwa Prefectural Archive that are included to update the chronology of sexual crimes.   The research project analyzed the integration of gender perspectivesinto international peace and security policies and peace building as well as establishinggender justice in the following areas as analysis of the UN policies on current systematicsexual violence in armed conflicts, the conditions of victims and survivors of military sexualviolence and their advocacy, trauma and healing, reconciliation, and backlash. • The sexual trade and Sexual Violence of the US Military
