  • Realization of cooperative motion between human and robot based on understanding human behavior

    With the revision of ISO safety standards, industrial robots can assist human works without safety fences if the standard is met and robots that operate in the same space as humans can be realized. In the future, it is necessary for robots to read the intent of human from the constantly changing surrounding environment and human motions, determine their own motions, and collaborate with humans. Therefore, in this research, a finger movement measurement system was developed. This sensor system made it possible to measure finger motions, which could not be measured due to blind spots when measured using a camera system. By using the developed system, the motions of human fingers were identified, and the progress of human work was got.   • Elucidation of the causes of muscle weakness due to weightlessness and aging and development of preventive equipment

    Skeletal muscle can prevent bone atrophy simply by maintaining skeletal muscle mass. Furthermore, it can be expected to prevent degenerative changes in various biological functions such as age-related muscle weakness (sarcopenia). Using a wearable gait analysis system, we examined the activity of the lower limb antigravity muscles in closer detail from the perspective of biomedical engineering and kinematics. From the information gathered in these examinations, we develop a “load-controlled treadmill” that can apply effective stimulation and stress to lower limb antigravity muscles, such as the soleus, by making the user proactively move the ankles in order to move the walking surface.   • Modeling of muscle function degradation due to zero gravity environment and aging and proposal of preventive device

    Currently, manned space exploration is actively being promoted internationally, so optimal walking motion control technique in the microgravity environment is required. However, during walking on the anti-gravity treadmill, ground reaction forces and joint angles cannot be measured by a large force plate and an optical measurement system. So in this research, walking in a microgravity environment was simulated by using an anti-gravity treadmill and its walking motion was measured with a wearable motion measurement device. The ground reaction forces and the joint angles during one gait cycle were calculated based on each sensor output, and the influence on the walking due to partial weight bearing was examined.   • Improvement of Rehabilitation Efficiency of Walking Disabled People by Bio-feedback

    Generally, a treadmill is used for walking rehabilitation. However, the degree of recovery of rehabilitation can not be evaluated quantitatively because of lack of indicators for evaluating walking based on motion analysis. Therefore, we develop a left-right separated treadmill that can change the load by speed control.     Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients in Japan are about eight hundred thousand. 80-90% of RA patients develop to the hands and wrist. When developing these, causing the dislocation and deformation of the finger. As treatment for subluxation due to RA, there is a rehabilitation by hand therapy, but therapist is not enough. Therefore a device for rehabilitation of thumb MP joint subluxation has been developed. To improve the device, it is necessary to clear the dynamics of hand therapy. Therefore, the authors tried to measurement two kind of rehabilitation by using motion capture and contact force sensor, and we will try develop the simulation function model for curative effect evaluations of hand therapy for RA.   • Development of passive biped robot with sole shapes that can walk based on ZMP theory

    In engineering application, it is necessary to improve the energy efficiency of biped robot. Therefore, in this study, we aimed to develop a biped robot to achieve the passive walking with the heel and the toes that simulates the human foot shape. The effectiveness of the passive walking machine with the proposed foot shape is shown by simulation and the experimental results by the real machine.
