Researcher Profile and Settings

    Profile

    Professor Minoru Inaba received his B. Sc. from Faculty of Engineering, Kyoto University in 1984, and his M. Sc. in 1986 and Dr. Eng. in 1995 from Graduate School of Engineering, Kyoto University. He has worked on electrochemical energy conversion systems at Kyoto University (1992-2002) and at Doshisha University (2002-present). He has worked as the leader of a NEDO PEFC research project on platinum catalysts in FY2008-2019, and served as the chairperson of The Committee of Battery Technology, The Electrochemical Society of Japan (2015-18). His research interests are fundamental aspects in polymer electrolyte fuel cells, solid oxide fuel cells, and lithium-ion batteries. He has authored over 200 peer-reviewed papers, 60 review articles, 25 book chapters, and 20 patents.

    • Stabilization of highly oxidized states of transition metal ions for redox flow batteries

      バナジウム系レドックスフロー電池(VRFB)のエネルギー密度向上に向けては、電解液の高濃度化が不可欠である。しかし、現行のVRFBの電解液濃度は1.5 M程度と低い。これは2~4価と5価のVイオン溶解度の温度特性、電解質の硫酸に対する安定性が全く異なることに起因する。5価イオンの安定性を向上させるためには酸強度を上げることが有効とされてきたが、酸強度を上げると2~4価のVイオンの溶解度が低下するというジレンマがあり、酸強度に頼らない高酸化状態の5価イオンの安定化法の開発が必要である。そこで本研究では配位性の高いジアルキルジスルホン酸を電解質として用いることで5価イオンの安定化を目指している。 鎖長の異なるアルキルジスルホン酸(m = 1-3)電解液を用いてバナジウム4価、5価イオンの安定化を検討したところ、m=3の1,3-プロパンジスルホン酸(PDSH)電解質が5℃の低温における4価イオン、50℃の高温における5価イオンの安定化に最も効果があり、電解液の高濃度化が可能であることが示された。 この原因について溶液構造解析を行ったところ、ラマン分光測定及びUV-visスペクトル測定からはPDSアニオンが優先的に4価イオンに配位していることが確認された。また5価イオンのUV-vis測定でも同様にPDSアニオンが優先的に5価イオンに配位しているという結果が得られた。さらにFT-IR測定の結果からV-O-Vの二量体のピークの減少が確認された。この結果より1,3-プロパンジスルホン酸は立体障害が大きく、5価イオンの二量体の形成を阻害することができたため、高濃度化しても5価イオンが安定に存在できることが示唆された。 一方、PDSH電解質の濃厚化により、従来用いられてきた硫酸電解質と比較して電解液が高粘度となることが課題として明らかになり、次年度以降改良を進める必要が示された。, Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (C), 2020/04 -2023/03, Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (C), Doshisha University

    • Control of electrode interface and investigation of ion conductivity in Si negative electrodes with high energy densities for lithium-ion batteries

      Improvement of cycle life of Si negative electrodes is necessary to apply to practical lithium-ion batteries with large capacities. An artificial surface layer was formed on Si film electrodes to inhibit reductive decomposition of an electrolyte, and its effects on electrochemical properties were investigated. The charge/discharge efficiency of the Si electrode was improved by coating with lithium fluoride (LiF). Changes in the surface morphology of the Si electrode with potential sweeping were investigated using in-situ AFM. Although large amount of surface deposits originating from electrolyte decomposition emerged on the bare-Si electrode, few surface deposits were observed on the LiF-coated Si electrode.     • Studies on ORR Activity and Durability on Ptshell/Aucore/Mcore Multi core-shell catalyst for PEFCs

      Polymer electrolyte fuel cell (PEFC) is beginning to be put into practical use for its high efficiency and cleanliness. However, the cost reduction is one of the important problem for the further commercialization of PEFC. In particular, a lot of Pt catalyst are used at cathode in PEFCs for its high activity on oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). Unfortunately, Pt is noble metal, and very expensive in the earth as you know, so it is necessary to reduce the Pt usage. However, ORR activity and Pt durability in catalyst layer are in trade-off relation. Pt monolayer modified Au @ Metal catalysts are promising cathode materials for the commercialization of PEFCs.     • Development of Low-Temperature Ammonia-Fueld Solid Oxide Fuel Cells

      Solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) using ammonia, which is a promising hydrogen carrier in the hydrogen energy society in the future, as a fuel were developed. Several highly active anode catalysts for ammonia oxidation were developed, and of these, Ni-Cr alloy catalyst showed the highest activity as well as good long-term stability. Furthermore, all proton conductive SOFCs were developed.     • Analysis of Oxygen Mass Transport across Ionomer of Polymer Electrolyte Fuel Cell Catalyst Layer

      It is important to clarify the rate-determining step of oxygen mass transport in the porous electrode of polymer electrolyte fuel cells (PEFCs). In this study, elementary steps of oxygen transport were analyzed using a model Pt microelectrode and the limiting current method. In the temperature (30-80 degrees C) and relative humidity (30-80%) ranges tested in this study, the oxygen dissolution rate across the gas/ionomer interface was the rate-determining step.       Oxygen mass transport across membranes and ionomer thin films was investigated by electrochemical methods using platinum microelectrodes. The oxygen permeability in hydrocarbon membranes was much lower than that in perfluorinated membrane. Hence an improvement of oxygen permeability is important for hydrocarbon-based ionomers.     • Correlation of electrochemical fluorination mechanism with kind and symmetry of cation in fluoride type of room temperature molten salts

      (CH_3)_4NF・mHF(m=3.5~5.0)と(CH_3)_3NF・mHF(m=3.5~5.0)および(C_2H_5)_4NF・mHF(m=3.5~4.5)と(C_2H_5)_3N・mHF(m=3.5~5.0)の電気伝導度および粘度を25~100℃で測定した。いずれの系においても、温度の上昇およびm値の増加に伴い,電気伝導度は増加したが、粘度は減少する傾向が得られた。R_4NF・mHFとR_3N・mHFの電気伝導度やその活性化エネルギーの比較から、カチオンは、R_4^+やR_3NH^+であることが確認された。また、(CH_3)_4NFと(C_2H_5)_3N・mHFの電気伝導度および(CH_3)_3N・mHFと(C_2H_5)_3N・mHFの電気伝導度を比較すると、いずれも後者の方が低い値となっている。前者のカチオン(CH_3)_4N^+や(CH_3)_3NH^+と後者のカチオン(C_2H_5)_4N^+や(C_2H_5)_3NH^+とを比較すると、後者の方が大きなイオン半径を有しているため、溶融塩中でのカチオンの移動が妨げられたと考えられる。さらに、電気伝導度と粘度の積、いわゆるワルデン積は一定にはならず、mの値の増加につれて減少した。(CH_3)_4NF・mHF(m=3.5~5.0)と(CH_3)_3N・mHF(m=3.5~5.0)の結晶構造に基づき、常温溶融塩中に存在するイオン種とHFとの水素結合の強さの違いにより、各挙動について考察した。 (1)ニッケル電極を用いて(CH_3)_3N・mHF(m=3.5~5.0)+CsF・2.3HFの混合液を、(2)LiNiO_2被覆ニッケル電極を用いて(CH_3)_3N・mHF(m=3.0)電解液を、(3)BDD電極を用いて(CH_3)_3NF・mHF(m=3.0~5.0)電解液を電解した。いずれの場合も陽極生成ガスの成分は同じであったが、(3)の場合に(CF_3)_3Nの生成割合が最大であった。それは、電極表面上に電気伝導性とフッ素化能のあるCsNi_2F_6被膜が生成し、それが電極からの発熱を低下させてC-N結合の裂断を起こり難くするばかりでなく、電極近傍の解液中にある部分フッ素化物をさらにフッ素化して(CF_3)_3Nを生成するためと考えられる。, Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research, 2007 -2008, Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (C), Doshisha University

    • ANALYSIS ON CORRELATION BETWEEN STRUCTURE OF SPECIES IN ROOM-TEMPERATURE MOLTEN SALTAND MECHANISM OF ELECTRODE REACTION

      (CH_3)_4NF・mHF (m=3〜5) and (CH_3)_4NF・mDF (m=3.0, 3.5, 4.0) melts were prepared by reaction of (CH_3)_4NF with HF and DE respectively. Analysis of high-energy X-ray diffraction of (CH_3)_4NF・mHF and NH_4F・nHF melts indicated that (CH_3)_4NF・mHF melts had the intermolecular correlations of the (CH_3)_4N^+ cation in liquid state and hence the tetrahedral NC_4 short-range structure was maintained. Comparison of the measured Raman and IR spectra of (CH_3)_4NF・mHF melts with ab initio calculation revealed that a HF molecule in addition to (FH)F^-, (FT)_2F^-, and (FD)_3F^- existed in the melts and that (FH)_2F^- was the most species among them having HF. The frequencies observed in Raman and IR spectra of (CH_3)_4NF・mDF melts were compared with ab initio calculation. Consequently, it is confirmed that (FD)F^-, (FD)_2F^-, and (FD)_3F^- also existed in the melts. Electrolytic conductivity of (CH_3)_4NF・mHF melts increased with increasing m value, whereas their viscosity decreased with the increase of m value, because the concentration of HF molecule in the melts increased with increasing m value. In electrolysis of (CH_3)_4NF・mHF melts containing CsF with a nickel anode, the best ratio of (CF_3)_3N to the overall anode gas was 40.5%. In electrolysis of only (CH_3)_4NF・mHF melts with the LiNiO_2 and the LaNiO_3 coated Ni sheet anodes prepared by atmosphere plasma spraying technique and sol-gel method, an insulating NiF_2 was prevented from formation in the surface layer on the anodes and resistance of the surface layer was decreased. The best ratio of (CF_3)_3N to the overall anode gas on the LiNiO_2 coated Ni sheet anode prepared by atmosphere plasma spraying technique was 33.1%.     • STUDY ON AMMONIUM POLYPHOSPHATE PROTON CONDUCTORS AS ELECTROLYTES FOR NOVEL INTERMEDIATE TEMPERATURE FUEL CELLS

      Ammonium polyphosphates (NH_4PO_3) have high proton conductivity, end are promising materials as electrolytes in intermediate temperature fuel cells operated at around 300℃. In the present study, thermal stability of the ammonium polyphosphates was improved by adding suitable matrix materials and by partial substitution of ammonium ion. (NH_4)_2SiP_4O_<13> was added as a matrix to form NH_4PO_3/(NH_4)_2SiP_4O<13> composites. The composite (4:1) gave a high proton conductivity of 5.4 mS cm^<-1> at 300℃ with improved thermal stability. The proton conductivity increased with an increase in the content of the matrix. However, NH_4PO_3/(NH_4)_2SiP_4O_<13> composites with molar ratio greater than 8:1 were not stable at 300℃, especially under humidified atmosphere. Hence, the composites with molar ratio lower than 8:1 are preferable in practical use. (NH_4)_<1-x>K_xPO_3 solid solutions were then prepared to improve thermal stability. (NH_4)_<0.2>K_<0.8>PO_3 kept a solid state even at 400℃ and gave a high proton conductivity. In these solid solutions, NH_3 was eliminated during heating and phase separation into a crystalline phase of KPO_3 and an amorphous phase of HPO_3 occurred. The former phase has a high thermal stability and works as a matrix.     • Fluorination of SiC with NF_3 by Plasma Assisted Reaction and Thermally Chemical Reaction

      In the reactive ion etching (RIE) of SiC with NF_3, the etching rate was minimum at NF_3 pressure of 3 Pa. The surface of polished SiC specimen with treatment by RIE under conditions such as NF_3 pressure of 1 Pa and RF power of 100 W remained smooth in the scale of nm within 30 minutes, whereas it became rough in scale of 20 nm over 60 minutes. In contrast, the SiC surface became carbon-rich by RIE under NF_3 pressures higher than 3 Pa, because of the reaction of F radicals with Si on the SiC surface, and the carbon-rich part of SiC surface acted as a micromask to form spikes on it. The species such as N_2^+, N_2, and F radicals were observed in NF_3 plasma by optical emission spectroscopy. The physical etching by N_22^+ ion under lower NF_3 pressures and the chemical etching by F radicals under higher NF_3 pressures were preferentially occurred, respectively. Therefore, it is considered that the etching rate of 87 nm/min was obtained at NF_3 pressure of 0.5 Pa with RF power of 100 W, and that the depth of 2 μm was etched anisotropically with the smooth SiC surface in scale of nm. Analysis on the spike formation mechanism on the poly-SiC and SiC(111) specimens during RIE treatment revealed that the growth orientation of spike was independent of the critical face and the grain boundery on the SiC surface. The etching rates of the lattice planes such as (311) and (220) on the poly-SiC surface during Down Flow Etching (DFE) were small compared with those of (111), (200), and (222) lattice planes.     • 熱測定による低温焼成炭素へのリチウムのアロイングの反応機構の解析

      近年、リチウム金属に代わるリチウム二次電池負極材料として、炭素材料が注目されている。中でも、1000℃未満の低温で処理した低結晶性炭素は黒鉛における理論容量372mAh/gを越える高い比容量を持つが、充放電挙動に大きなヒステリシスが存在し、作動電圧が充電と放電で異なるためエネルギーロスが大きいことなどが問題となっている。ヒステリシスの原因については今までにいくつかのモデルが提案されているが、その原因の詳細に関しては未解明な点が多く残されている。そこで本研究では、種々の温度で焼成したメソカーボンマイクロビーズ(MCMBs)を用いて定電流充放電測定と同時に熱測定を行い、低結晶性炭素への電気化学的リチウムのアロイング反応を解析し、これによって、低結晶性炭素へのリチウム挿入脱離機構・ヒステリシスの原因を解明することを目的とした。 低温焼成のMCMB700、1000では充放電曲線の平坦部で放電側、充電側ともに発熱が観測された。一方、充放電曲線でヒステリシスの認められないMCMB1800では、放電時に溶媒分解と考えられる発熱が観測された以外は熱量が得ることができなかった。これらの結果より、発熱は電位の平坦部で生じ、また充放電曲線にヒステリシスの存在するものに認められることが分かった。 また、放電、充電ともに発熱することは、リチウムのアロイング、又脱離過程において、何らかの活性化障壁が存在することが分かった。充電時と放電時における熱挙動が可逆でないことから、低結晶性炭素においてはリチウムは炭素層間に挿入した後、活性化過程を伴う後続反応により層間以外のサイトヘ移動するものと考えられる。, 日本学術振興会, 科学研究費助成事業, 1999 -1999, 特定領域研究(A), 京都大学
    • その場走査型トンネル顕微鏡観察による酸化物薄膜へのリチウム挿入脱離反応の解明

      スピネル構造を持つLiMn_2O_4は安価で毒性も低く次世代のリチウム二次電池の正極材料として注目されているが、充放電を繰り返すとともに充放電容量が減少するという大きな問題点がある。LiMn_2O_4を正極材料として用いるためには、その劣化機構を解明し、それをもとに劣化を抑えるための指針を得ることが重要である。本研究では、LiMn_2O_4の薄膜をレーザーアブレーション法で形成し、その電気化学的リチウム脱離挿入特性を明らかにするとともに、電気化学走査型トンネル顕微鏡(STM)を用いて、電気化学的にリチウムを脱離挿入させた時の表面形態変化を観察し、その劣化機構を明らかにすることを目的とした。 レーザーアブレーション法で作製した定比組成の薄膜(Li/Mn=0.51)のサイクリックボルタモグラムのピークはサイクル数を重ねるにつれてブロード化するとともにピーク電流値が大きく減少した。また、STMによる形態観察の結果20サイクル後には直径120〜250μmの微小球状粒子が多数観察された。サイクルを重ねるにつれ、粒子数は増加する一方で、その粒径は減少した。さらに3.50〜4.09Vおよび4.04〜4.25Vの電位領域でサイクルさせ、同様の観察を行ったところ、微小粒子の生成は4.04〜4.25Vの高電位領域で起こりやすいことがわかった。一方、リチウム過剰組成(Li/Mn=0.52)の薄膜のサイクリックボルタモグラムは量論組成のものと比べてブロードであったが、サイクルを重ねてもきわめて安定でありサイクルに伴うさらなるブロード化はほとんど見られなかった。充放電サイクルに伴う表面形態の変化もほとんどなく、75サイクル後に於いても微小粒子の生成は見られなかった。従って、定比組成の薄膜のサイクルに伴う劣化は、観察された微小粒子の生成と密接な関係があることが明らかになった。, 日本学術振興会, 科学研究費助成事業, 1999 -1999, 特定領域研究(A), 京都大学

      スピネル構造を持つLiMn_2O_4は安価で毒性も低く次世代のリチウム二次電池の正極材料として注目されている。しかし、充放電とともに充放電容量が減少するという大きな問題点がある。本研究では、LiMn_2O_4の薄膜をレーザーアブレーション法で形成し、その電気化学的リチウム脱離挿入特性を明らかにするとともに、電気化学走査型トンネル顕微鏡(STM)を用いて、電気化学的にリチウム脱離挿入させた時の原子レベルでの形態変化を観察し、その劣化機構を明らかにすることを目的とした。昨年度はレーザーアブレーション法によりほぼ定比組成(Li/Mn=0.51)の薄膜を作製し、1MLiClO_4を電解質として含むエチレンカーボネートとジエチルカーボネートの混合溶液中での充放電サイクル前後での表面形態変化をSTMでその場観察し、20サイクル以降から薄膜表面に100nm程度の微小粒子が出現することを明らかにした。 この微小粒子は溶液中から析出して生成したと考えられ、容量低下の原因として単なるマンガンイオンの溶出だけでなく、溶出したマンガンイオンの再析出反応を考慮する必要があることが示唆された。そこで本年度は、より大きな容量低下が認められるLiPF_6を電解質とした溶液中での同様の測定を行った。その結果、微小粒子の生成が認められたが、その形態から溶液中から析出したものではなく溶解によって粒界等の結晶性の低い部分の溶解のために微粉化が起こるものと推察された。電解質塩による形態変化の違いは、フッ素イオン存在下での大きなMnイオンの溶解度が原因であると考えられる。また、容量低下が少ないリチウム過剰組成(Li/Mn=0.52)の薄膜を作製し、LiClO_4を電解質として含む溶液中で観察したところ表面形態にほとんど変化が見られず、定比組成で見られた形態変化が容量低下の原因であることが確かめられた。, 日本学術振興会, 科学研究費助成事業, 1998 -1999, 奨励研究(A), 京都大学
    • Scanning Tunneling Microscopy Study on Surface Reactions of Carbon Negative Electrodes in Rechargeable Lithium Batteries

      Graphite is now widely used as negative electrode in rechargeable lithium batteries. It is generally recognized that a kind of passivating film, called solid electrolyte interface (SEI), is formed on carbon negative electrode during the first charging. Effective SET layer prevents further solvent decomposition and improves the safety and the cycleability of Li-ion cells. Solvent choice is very important to obtain excellent SEI.For example, propylene carbonate (PC) is a poor solvent for graphite anode because it decomposes at ca. 1 V vs. Li/Li^+, and thereby no intercalation takes place. However, the addition of 12-crown-4 to PC solution or the use of partially fluorinated PC suppresses solvent decomposition and enables lithium intercalation, in the present work, we observed the morphology changes of graphite surface in 12-crown-4/PC and 3-trifluoromethyl-2,5-dioxa- cyclopentan-1-one (TFPC) using electrochemical STM, and elucidated the mechanism of SEI formation on graphite negative electrode in these electrolyte systems. In 1 M LiC1O_4/TFPC, exfoliation of graphite layers was observed at potentials around 0.9 V ; however, the exfoliation was not so severe as that observed in 1 M LiC1O_4/PC.Below 0.8 V, especially below around 0.5 V, such exfoliation was terminated by the formation of SEI along the newly formed step edges. In this case, the instability of TFPC against reduction enables rapid SEI formation and suppresses further exfoliation. The addition of 12-crown-4 into PC greatly suppressed the exfoliation. After potential was kept at 0.9 V, atomically flat, island-like structures with an enhanced height of 1 nm (referred to as "hills".) appeared on the surface. When the potential was kept below 0.8 V, part of the hills was swelled and changed to irregular-shaped structures with an enhanced height of 20-30 nm (referred to as "blisters"). Blister formation became more significant as the potential was lowered. The observed morphology changes were very similar to those observed in ethylene carbonate (EC)-based solutions in previous studies. These hills and blisters are considered to have been formed by the intercalation of Li^+/12- crown-4 complexes and their decomposition followed by accumulation of the decomposed products, respectively.     • 走査型トンネル顕微鏡によるリチウム二次電池黒鉛負極/有機電解液界面反応の解析

      近年、リチウム二次電池の研究が盛んである。リチウム二次電池の負極材料としては炭素材料、特に高結晶性の黒鉛化材料が用いられている。リチウム二次電池の充放電は黒鉛化材料へのリチウムイオンの挿入脱離に伴うことが知られている。しかし、電解液によっては黒鉛化材料へリチウムイオンが挿入せす、電解液の分解が生じる。これらの現象は数多くの研究者によって報告されているが、その原因は未だ解明されていない。そこで、本研究では、種々の電解液中でのリチウムイオンの黒鉛に対する挿入反応の初期過程を走査型トンネル顕微鏡で調べることを目的とした。結果を以下に記す。 1)サイクリックボルタンメトリーを用いて1Mの過塩素酸リチウムを電解質として含む炭酸エチレン-炭酸ジエチル混合溶液、炭酸エチレン-ジメトキシエタン混合溶液、炭酸プロピレン中での黒鉛の電気化学的特性を調べた。いずれの電解液でも還元電流が1V付近から流れており、電解液の分解が生じることが分かった。炭酸プロピレン中では、第2サイクル以降も還元電流が流れ続け、安定な被膜が形成されないことが示された。2)走査型トンネル顕微鏡観察の結果では、サイクリックボルタンメトリーの結果と非常に良い一致を示した。すなわち、炭酸プロピレンを用いた場合には、黒鉛層の剥離が起こり続け、リチウムの挿入反応が認められなかった。また、その他の電解液の場合では、被膜形成は溶媒和リチウムイオンが黒鉛層間に侵入し、その後、溶媒和リチウムイオンが分解し、被膜を形成することが分かった。, 日本学術振興会, 科学研究費助成事業, 1997 -1997, 重点領域研究, 京都大学
    • リチウム含有遷移金属酸化物電極へのリチウム挿入脱離反応のその場ラマン解析

      電気エネルギー貯蔵および電気自動車の駆動源として高ネルギー密度のリチウム二次電池の開発が切望されている。高エネルギー密度を有するリチウム二次電池の正極および負極材料として、LiCoO_2,LiNiO_2,及びその固溶体、LiMn_2O_4、Li_<4/3>Ti_<5/3>O_4などの含リチウム遷移金属酸化物が研究されているが、これらの材料への電気化学的リチウム挿入脱離反応機構はいまだ明らかになっていない部分が多い。本研究では、LiCoO_2,Li_<4/3>Ti_<5/3>O_4の2種類の含リチウム遷移金属酸化物を取り上げ、レーザーラマン分光法を用いてその電気化学的リチウム挿入脱離反応を解析することを目的とした。得られた結果は以下の通りである。 1.リチウム二次電池正極として既に実用化が進んでいるLiCoO_2を用いてそのリチウム脱離挿入に伴うラマンスペクトル変化を測定した。まずC軸配向した薄膜を用いてLiCoO_2のラマンバンドの同定を行い、AlgバンドとEgバンドであることを確かめた。また、充電反応に対応するリチウム脱離過程では、六方晶第一相、六方晶第2相の相変化に対応するスペクトル変化が確認された。また、リチウム脱離とともにラマンバンドのブロード化が確認され、結晶中に残されたリチウムが、結晶のリチウムサイトをランダムに占有していることが示された。 2.平坦で低い充放電電位を有するLi_<4/3>Ti_<5/3>O_4は将来の負極材料として期待されているが、リチウム挿入脱離に伴うエックス線パターンには変化が見られず、その反応機構が明らかになっていなかった。リチウム挿入脱離に伴うラマンスペクトル変化は明らかに第2相の出現を示し、その反応が2相共存で進行することが明らかになった。, 日本学術振興会, 科学研究費助成事業, 1996 -1996, 奨励研究(A), 京都大学
    • 混合導電性ペロブスカイト型希土類酸化物の配位設計

      希土類を含むペロブスカイト型の酸化物結晶の多くは、酸化物イオンや水素イオン等のイオン導電性あるいは電子導電性あるいは両者を併せ持つ混合導電性を示し、固体電解質材料として有用である。希土類を含むペロブスカイト型酸化物の物性は、希土類の種類、組成等により、大きく影響を受ける。しかしながら、希土類周囲の酸素配位等、結晶構造のレベルでの詳細は十分明らかにされているとは言えない。本研究では、混合導電性ペロブスカイト型酸化物の、希土類の種類や組成による周囲の酸素の配位等の状態変化を解析すると共に、種々の用途に適した固体電解質材料として望ましい物性を持つために必要な希土類の配位状態を設計することを目的とした。 Aサイトを占めるイオンとBを占めるイオンの半径の差の大きいペロブスカイト型酸化物LaScO_3において、両者の中間のイオン半径を有するイオンを固溶すると、固溶したイオンは、Laに対してはBサイトを占有するのが好ましいのに対し、Scに対してはAサイトを占有する方が望まれる。そのため、このイオンの占めるサイトにランダム性が期待される。本研究では、La_<0.9>M_<0.1>Y_<0.1>Sc_<0.9>O_3組成のペロブスカイト型酸化物を、MをNdから順にイオン半径の小さくなる方向にYまで変化させながら焼成し、その構造を解析した。 La_<0.9>Y_<0.2>Sc_<0.9>O_3組成の単一相が得られ、斜方晶系のGdFe O_3型ペロブスカイトであることが、XRDにより確認された。La_<0.9>Y_<0.2>Sc_<0.9>O_3において、Yは、Laに対してはBサイトを、Scに対してはAを占めることが期待される。リ-トベルト解析の結果、LaはAサイトを占め、ScはBサイトを占めるのに対し、YはAサイトとBサイトの両方を同時に占めることが証明された。, 日本学術振興会, 科学研究費助成事業, 1995 -1996, 重点領域研究, 京都大学
    • Vapor-Phase Preparation of Carbonaceous Materials Using Activated Fluorine Species

      The aim of this research is to develop a novel method for vapor-phase preparation of carbonaceous materials at temperatures lower than those used in conventional methods. Activated fluorine species was obtained by decomposition of nitrogen trifluoride (NF_3) in plasma, and was used to activate the decomosition process of hydrocarbon. The decomposition mechanism in the presence of NF_3 was analyzed by quadrupole mass spectroscopy (QMS). Major findings are as follows : 1.Vapor-phase preparation of carbonaceous materials Benzene was used as a carbon source for thin film. In the presence of NF_3, deposition rate of carbonaceous film increased significantly when compared with that in the absence of NF_3. Carbonaceous thin films can be obtained even at a low temperature of 400゚C.Glass plate substrates gave carbonaceous films of flat surface, wheresas nickel plate substrates resulted in rough surface. When the temperature of the substrate was increased, deposition rate decreased. Carbonaceous films with best quality was obtained by vaporphase reaction at 700゚C.When the plasma power was increased, the crystallinity of the resulting films increased, whereas the deposition rate decreased. 2.Analysis by QMS QMS analysis revealed that activated fluorine species was released by decomposition of NF_3, and this active species substitutes the hydrogen of benzene to form fluorobenzene.     • ラマン分光法によるカーボン材料へのリチウムのインターカレーション反応の解明

      高エネルギー密度を有するリチウム二次電池の負極材料として、カーボン材料が注目され、種々の方法によって様々な結晶性、配向性、形態を有するカーボン材料が作製され、研究に用いられているが、そのリチウム挿入・脱離反応は未だ明らかになっていない部分が多い。本研究ではレーザーラマン分光法を用い、種々のカーボン材料への電気化学的リチウム挿入脱離反応を解析することを目的とし、以下の結果が得られた。 高度に黒鉛化した炭素材料への電気化学的リチウム挿入反応を解明するために、高配向性熱分解グラファイトおよび天然黒鉛粉末を電極として用いて、充放電中の種々の電位におけるラマンスペクトルを得た。それらのスペクトル変化から、リチウム挿入とともにカーボン材料ホストのステージ構造が変化を起こすことを明らかにした。従って、これらの高度に黒鉛化したカーボン材料では、ステージ構造を有するグラファイト層間化合物の形成を伴いながら、リチウムがカーボン材料の層間に挿入されることが明らかになった。 また、低結晶性のカーボン材料として、メソフェーズピッチ小球体を種々の温度で焼成したメソカーボンマイクロビーズ(MCMB)を用い同様の実験を行ったところ、MCMB1800, MCMB1000ではリチウムはカーボン層間に挿入されるが、高黒鉛化材料のようにステージ構造の形成を伴わないことが明らかになった。また、MCMB700では充放電に伴うスペクトル変化が全く観察されず、リチウムがカーボン層間には挿入されず、マイクロポアなどの部分に挿入されていることが明らかになった。, 日本学術振興会, 科学研究費助成事業, 1995 -1995, 奨励研究(A), 京都大学
    • 混合導電性ペロブスカイト型希土類酸化物の配位設計

      イオン導電性と電子導電性を併せ持つ混合導電性ペロブスカイト型酸化物の精密な機能制御のためには、希土類の種類、組成が希土類の酸素配位に及ぼす影響を、詳細に解明することが重要である。ペロブスカイト型構造には、陽イオンの入り得るサイトが、12配位のAサイトと6配位のBサイトの2種類ある。同一の希土類金属Yを含むもので、Yが相対的に大きくなるY-Cr、及びYが相対的に小さくなるY-Laの2種類の組み合わせでペロブスカイト型結晶を、酸化イットリウムと酸化クロムあるいは酸化ランタンを用いて焼成した。粉末XRD測定を行い、リ-トベルト法による結晶構造解析を行った。また、本学超強力X線回折実験室において、EXAFSの測定を行った、解析の結果、YCrO_3では、Yが全てAサイトを占めるのに対し、YLaO_3では、Yが全てBサイトを占めるという結果が得られた。以上の結果より、同じ希土類イオンであっても、その半径が相対的に大きい場合はAサイトを占め、逆に相対的に小さくなるとBサイトを占めることが明らかになった。よって、種々のイオン半径を持つ希土類イオンを組み合わせ、同じ希土類イオンが同時に異なるサイトを占める構造を作ることができれば、格子のランダム性に影響し、イオン導電性等に興味深い特性が現れることが期待できる。 焼成原料作成のため、インキュベータ-、蒸留水製造装置、並びに酸素分圧の調整が可能な電気炉を使用した。また、大型単結晶により分光するインシデントモノクロメーターを設置した粉末X線装置を本学超強力X線回折実験室において製作し、Kα_1線単独による精度の高い回折図形を測定し、精密なリ-トベルト解析を可能とした。, 日本学術振興会, 科学研究費助成事業, 1995 -1995, 重点領域研究, 京都大学
    • Valence and Coordination State Analysis for Transition Metal Ions Mixed Conductive Perovskite Oxides

      Rare earth containing perovskite oxides with mixed conductive properties in which both ions and electrons move as charge carriers were heat-treated under various oxygen partial pressures and temperatures for various kinds of alkaline earth compositions. The crystal structures were precisely analyzed by powder X-ray Rietveld analysis. Then the relations between the changes in valence and coordination states of the transition metal ions and the properties such as electrical conductivity etc.were investigated. La : Mn=1 : 1, La substituted La-Sr-Mn-O or Mn substitute La-Mn-Mg-O perovskite oxides were heat-treated under various oxygen partial pressures. The Mn valence of the samples were measured by a chemical analysis, and the crystal structure were refined by the powder X-ray diffraction and the Rietveld analysis. A novel orthor-hombic perovskite phase containing Mn^<2+> ions was formed by heat-treatment under low oxygen partial pressures. The structure was very close to a cubic symmetry. It is supposed that the micro Jahn-Teller effects of Mn^<2+> ions were nearly canceled by one another. Crystal structure of perovskite La_<1-x>Sr_xCoO_3 was precisely determined by powder X-ray Rietveld analysis, the mean valence of cobalt ion was measured by iodometry, and the correlation with the electrical property was investigated. The valence of the cobalt ion showed a stoichiometric change for the lower amount of Sr, however, the deviation from the stoichiometry increased with the increase of Sr. With the increase of Sr amount, there observed an abrupt decrease for CoO distance by the Rietveld analysis, and the transition from semiconducting to metallic in the electrical conductivity.     • Preparation of ion-exchange membranes by plasma polymerization

      In order to develop a novel method for preparing perfluorosulfanate ion-exchange membranes, active species of the plasma reactions were analyzed by in situ mass spectroscopy. From the results, the reaction mechanism of the plasma polymerization and optimization of the preparation method were elucidated. 1) Membranes prepared from benzenesulfonylchloride (BSC) monomer did not have ion-exchange capacity, whereas cation-exchange membranes can be prepared from benzensulfonylfluoride (BSF) monomer. 2) From the results by in situ mass spectroscopy, it was demonstrated that the stability of an ionic-exchange situ of a monomer in plasma is a key point to prepare membranes with high ion-exchange capacities. 3) C13-NMR results indicated that the plasma polymer had a highly cross-linked structure., Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research, 1994 -1995, Grant-in-Aid for Developmental Scientific Research (B), KYOTO UNIVERSITY
    • イオン交換膜中に固定されたミクロな不均一界面におけるビオローゲンの相間移動

      ペルフルオロスルホン酸系カチオン交換膜は、親水性領域が疎水性領域から数ナノメーターのオーダーで相分離し、ミクロな不均一界面を膜内に固定した構造を有している。本研究では、ペルフルオロスルホン酸系カチオン交換膜(ナフィオン)と電極金属を結合、一体化させたSPE(Solid Polymer Electrolyte)電極を用い、このミクロな不均一界面を利用した反応の可能性とその機構、及び膜中の特異な物質移動の解明を目指し、相間移動メディエーターとして知られるビオローゲン化合物をイオン交換膜中に保持したSPE電極を作製し、膜中のミクロな不均一界面における相間移動反応を利用したmeso-1,2-ジブロモ-1,2-フェニルエタンの間接電解脱臭素化反応を行った。ビオローゲンを保持していない電極では、脱臭素化反応はほとんど進行しなかったが、ビオローゲンを保持した電極ではその電流効率は飛躍的に向上した。従って、膜中の不均一界面でビオローゲンの相間移動反応が起こることが示された。また、アルキル鎖長の異なるビオローゲンを比較した結果、プロピルビオローゲンが相間移動メディエーターとして最も有効であることが示され、ビオローゲンの膜中の拡散速度が電流効率に大きく影響を与えていることが示唆された。 また、銀電極上に被覆したナフィオン中に保持したプロピルビオローゲンの電気化学的挙動をレーザーラマン分光法を用いて調べ、種々のミセル溶液中での挙動と比較した。その結果、ナフィオン中ではSDSミセル溶液中と極めて良く似た挙動を示し、ナフィオン中の親水性領域に存在する電極活性サイトで生成したカチオンラジカルが、疎水性領域に相間移動を起こすことが確かめられた。, 日本学術振興会, 科学研究費助成事業, 1994 -1994, 奨励研究(A), 京都大学
    • Preparation of Zirconia Thin Films by Electrochemical Vapor Deposition and their Application to Oxygen Sensors

      A novel method for the preparation ofion-conductive thin films by electrochemical vapor deposition was developed, and oxygen sensors were prepared using this method. The results obtained are summarized as follows : i) Dense yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) films were formed on surface-oxidized nickel plates and nickel oxide pellets using a chemical vapor deposition-electrochemical vapor deposition (CVD-EVD) method. ii) Dense YSZ films were formed on the surface-oxidized nickel wire (100 mum in diameter) by the above method, and hollow YSZ fibers, which is a promising material for oxygen permeation membrane, were prepared by removing the Ni and NiO layrs from the YSZ/Ni/NiO composite. iii) A YSZ thin film formed on a small Ni/NiO pellet by CVD-EVD method, and an oxygen sensor was prepared using this composite.     • Studies on Conformation Analysis of Functional Peptides in Lipid Double Layr by UV Resonance Raman Spetrometry

      UV resonance Raman spectrometry using 193nm for excitation is useful for the elucidation of the structures of peptides and proteins in various enviroments, since that enables to observe the amide bands of these compounds selectively. The purpose of this work is the analysis of the conformation of functional peptides, Boc- (Ala-Aib) _n-OMe (n=2,4,8), and their aggregation in bimolecular lipid membrane. Raman spectrometric measurement was carried out by using an Ar/F excimer laser as a light source and a multiple wave detection method. Raman signals to be ascribed to amide I,II,III and 2V were observed from the peptide which existed in liposome made from dimyristoyl phosphatidylcholine. The wavenumbers of the amide bands oberved from Boc- (Ala-Aib) _8-OMe exising in the lipid membrane were in fair accord with those from poly (L-lysine) , whose structure was ascribed to alpha-helix based on its CD spectrum. Thus, it suggests the hexadecamer of that peptide in lipid membrane has the alpha-helix structure. In addition, the structures of the tetramer and the octamer were confirmed : an irregular structure for the tetramer and the 3_<10> structure for the octamer. An explicit correlation was confirmed between the observed wavenumbers of the amide bands and the secondary structure of peptides. A shift of the amide V band to higher wavenumber for a peptide aggregate was expected from the calculation of normal vibration mode based on molecular dynamics and that agreed with the results observed with higher concentration of Boc- (Ala-Aib) _8-OMe.
