Profile
Akihiro Kawase is a researcher at the Department of Corpus Studies, National Institute for Japanese Language and Linguistics, Japan. He received Ph.D. in cognitive science from the Graduate School of Decision Science and Technology, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan in 2011.
His researches are related to human perception of music. He is engaged in extracting musical concepts from both musical data and catalogued texts for music criticism using statistical techniques and natural language processing techniques. He is also a member of the Society for Japanese Folk Music (SJFM), as well as a member of the organization’s Board of Directors since 2013.

- Quantitative Analysis of the Propagation and Transition of Traditional Children's Songs

本研究課題は，伝統的なわらべ歌の特徴を定量的に解明し，現代の歌謡との比較から音楽の伝播・変容を実証的に捉えるための新たな視座を構築することである．そして，わらべ歌の旋律と歌詞に対して計量分析を実施することで，旋律的特徴(音組織)と語彙的特徴(語彙体系)を地域別に抽出し，地理情報システムを用いて地域間の相違を可視化することで，地域的特徴を明らかにする.この目的を達成するために，初年度は，わらべ歌の旋律と歌詞のXMLデータ化作業を進めた． 具体的には，「日本民謡に関して現状もっとも信頼できる資料」と評される『日本民謡大観』と双璧をなす『日本わらべ歌全集』を用いて，掲載楽曲のうち，遊びに関する種目である，遊びのはじめに関する歌，手まり歌， 羽根つき・お手玉歌，手遊び歌，鬼遊び歌，縄とび歌，外遊び歌に区分・収録された約4,000曲の楽曲データの整備を行った．また，この楽曲データと，過去に作成した日本歌謡曲・J-POPのデータを用いて試験的な分析を実施し，旋律と歌詞の対応関係を把握するための解析環境を構築した． 今年度は，第7回メディア宗教研究会，現代民俗学研究例会，第20期研究会第3研究，春の研究集会，The 11th Conference of the IASC-ARS The Asian Regional Section of the International Association for Statistical Computing，言語処理学会第28回年次大会において，民謡，わらべ歌，日本歌謡曲・J- POPのXMLデータを使用した比較分析事例の進捗について報告した., Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research, 2021/04 -2024/03, Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (C), Doshisha University - 新型コロナウイルス感染症に関連する緊急研究課題
