1965年山口県生まれ。2000年同大学院人文社会系研究科基礎文化コース宗教学宗教史学専攻博士課程単位取得退学、200709年度、日本学術振興会（ＲＰＤ）、2010年第7回日本学術振興会賞受賞、2014年より現職。専門：ユダヤ学、ラビ・ユダヤ教聖書解釈。

• Construction of a General History of Religion in the Eastern Mediterranean World at the Jewish reformative period from the viewpoint of Lived Ancient Religion

  2020年度の研究実施計画は、①ユダヤ教における変革、神殿祭儀からラビ・ユダヤ教への宗教意識の転換。②古代ローマ世界への一神教の影響の理解のため、いかにリュプケ式LARを導入するか、であった。その研究成果は次の二点にまとめられる。 １．リュプケ氏の主著の画期的な功績の吟味 リュプケ氏の主著を精査する中で、本書の新しさが古代宗教研究において改めて深く認識された。現時点ではそのうちの二点を挙げて今後の共同研究に生かすことを目指す。第一は、宗教史理解と方法論の吟味である。一神教の世界展開に伴って、世界宗教史は「儀礼としての宗教」から「複数の個人的宗教」へという理解は欧米の古代宗教学者に共通だが、リュプケ氏は前者においても儀礼を遵守する人しない人があり、基本は個人にとっての宗教から考察を始めるべきであるが従来十分には考察されていないとして、新たに宗教を定義し、そのための3つの要素を提示する。第二は、欧米の宗教史理解を相対化し、その理解の基礎をローマ帝国の特性に由来するものと捉えているので、欧米以外の文化的発展との比較研究が期待されている点であり、ここに本科研研究のねらいを設定できる。 ２．ユダヤ社会から二つの一神教が成立するプロセスについての新たな視点の発見 リュプケ氏の視点では、ユダヤ社会における儀礼的宗教から個人タイプへの宗教史的変遷が考慮されないため、儀礼から法の宗教への変遷の考察が本研究の重要な課題となる。ユダヤ社会の生きられた宗教に当たる要素に食事と穢れをめぐる論点があることが、公開シンポジウムにおいて確認できた。また、ユダヤの宗教規範をイスラエルの神の啓示法と見なした信者において、生きられた宗教の実践形態として聖典学習が登場することが再認識された。ここから、ラビ・ユダヤ教を事例として宗教における教育と学問の発展を宗教史的に素描する可能性が追及され、モノグラフの完成を見た。, Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research, 2020/04 -2024/03, Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (A), The University of Tokyo
• Geneology of Ma'aseh Bereshit -- Integral Resarch on the Freedom and the Idolatry in theJudaism

  １．ユダヤ教における「自由」の概念と、また２．「偶像」の一環としてのユダヤ教における「巨人」伝承の発展について研究を進めた。 １については、近現代のユダヤ思想家の中でも、フロム、レヴィナス、アーレントに注目しながら、その「自由」論の特質を探っている。また、出エジプトにまつわる過越しの祭りの典礼集の中で「自由」「解放」が語られことに着目。出エジプトでは、ファラオへの隷属から唯一の神ヤハウェに仕えることが主眼となるが、なぜ、ヤハウェに仕えることは隷属ではなく「自由」と考えられているのかを出エジプト記についての解釈集（出エジプト記ラッバ）の記事を等中心に分析中。「自由」の対極に、偶像やファラオ等、ある種の権力への隷属が想定されていると考えられるが、神に従うことは、それらと何が違うのかを考察中。 ２については、国立民族学博物館山中由里子教授、本学文学部大沼由布教授、関東学院大学髙井啓介准教授、立命館大学文学部岡本広毅准教授、龍谷大学文学部林則仁准教授、コメンテーターに太成学院大学黒川正剛教授を迎え、「巨人の場（とボス）」というタイトルで、古代、ユダヤ、ギリシア、中世ヨーロッパ、イスラーム世界を縦横断し、「巨人」モチーフの展開を追うオンラインシンポジウムを開催した（2021年11月19日）。多くの方々の視聴があり、有意義な成果を得られた。地域、文化、宗教の枠を超えた共通する文化態のようなものが、世界の中では蠢いていたさまが想像される。個別宗教、個別文化圏における研究と同時に、そのダイナミックな動きを連動させる視点の重要性が明らかにされた。現在、プロシーディングとして刊行準備中である。 また、ユダヤ教の律法主義について検討中である。従来、律法主義は、否定的にとらえられていたが、律法は万人に課せられている点で平等であり、ユダヤ教では自由をもたらすものと考えられているからである。, Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (C), 2020/04 -2024/03, Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (C), Doshisha University
• 諸宗教における正典化をテーマとする、比較宗教教典研究の立ち上げのための総合的研究

  第2年度も第1年度と同様、研究会合を着実に重ねていくことができ、研究代表者・分担者が扱っている個別宗教（仏教・ユダヤ教・キリスト教）以外の宗教の状況についても学ぶことができたことは、当初の計画どおりの進展だったと言うことができる。 但し、比較宗教教典研究という、本研究計画がそもそもの立ち上げを企図している当の研究「分野」（とあえて言うとして）に即して言えば、他の諸宗教に関して知見を得ることによって、問題の困難さが浮き彫りになったと言うことができる。 より具体的に言えば、近代日本の新宗教中の代表例と評しうる天理教との関連では、聖典の形成という事態が、教祖自身の言動或いは行動に基づく形で進展するということが（仏教やキリスト教の場合と異なり）必ずしも見られず、むしろ、教学の必要（及び、そのような体制整備によって、明治政府から一人前の宗教と認められるという差し迫った目的）に鑑みて、教学を念頭に置いた「教典」（これは天理教自体の用語法によっており、本研究計画が念頭に置いている「教典」とはやや意味が異なる）が聖典（これまた天理教自体の用語法によっており、本研究計画が念頭に置いている「教典」はむしろこの意味の聖典に近い）に先だって成立するという事態が見られた。つまり概念規定の妥当性に関する反省が求められたと言える。また、ゾロアスター教やインドの民族宗教（あえて言えば、バラモン教）との関連では、教典となるものの内容は古くから存在するがそれが文字化されない時期が長く続いたという、それ自体は既知ではある問題が改めて突きつけられることとなり、この事態をどう織り込んで比較宗教教典研究を推進していくかについて、今なお暗中模索の段階にあるということができる。 但し、この暗中模索は元々必要な経過点だと言うことはできるのであり、その意味では本研究計画は第2年度も着実な進展を遂げたと言えるのではあるまいか。, 日本学術振興会, 科学研究費助成事業, 2020/07 -2023/03, 挑戦的研究(開拓), 北海道大学
• Reconstruction of a history of monotheism based upon a disconvered synagogue in the Galilee in Israel
  Ichikawa Hiroshi
  A meeting room excavated at Tel-Rekhesh of the Galilee in Israel proved to be a synagogue that was probably erected in the middle of the first century C.E., about the same period of the activity of Jesus of Nazareth, and abandoned by the second half of the next century. Similar to those first century C.E. synagogues found so far in Israel, it was a simple room with cut stone seats along the walls. The identification of such a simple room with a synagogue was attested by the fact that most Jews in Judea became so conscious of observing the Jewish divine Law at that time and this narrow site of Galilee was populated by those Jews. • Researches in the history of Jewish Studies and its relationships to the "original sources" -- Towards the non-political and non-religious foundation of Jewish Studies

  We have proceeded in ongoing critical studies in the history of Jewish Studies, and analyzed editing process of "original sources" in terms of foundation for researchers. "Critical editions", which we use to refer uncritically, had reconstructed the "original sources" in accordance with paradigms of the time, whereas it had often demolished the consistency of texts within manuscripts. In so far as we would rely upon such "critical editions", hardly we could deal with texts themselves beyond the boundaries set by those paradigms. Furthermore, reconstructing the "original sources" for ad hoc purposes was a common practice of Jews even before the advent of Jewish Studies. The database is almost completed, and we are currently preparing to open itto the general public.
