• Transatlantic Ecology: The Interaction and Transformation of Environmental Literatures

  Through our joint research, we have shown that Romantic environmental literature and thought emerged in Britain and the U.S. as a result of their bilateral philosophical and literary dialogues, rather than the predominantly unilateral influence of British thought on the U.S. Another major finding is that environmental literature identifying today's ambient contamination, which continues to spread and transcend all boundaries of gender, race, and nationality--what Scott Slovic calls “non-locality”--has its literary and historical origin in this lively exchange of Romantic environmental ideas on both sides of the Atlantic. • "Sustainability" of Literary Studies: The Dynamism of "Environmental Sensibility" in the Romantic Age and Its Significance to Modern Times

  "Environmental sensibility," the sensitive response of life forms to the environment, has recently drawn much attention in natural science. Applying this concept in the field of the humanities, the present project investigates how environmental sensibility operates in philosophical, literary, and cultural texts, and analyze the formation of modern ecological thinking and its subsequent development. The project examines texts from around the British Romantic age, as the inception of modern forms of nature-environmental perception are most conspicuously observed in this era. This project has successfully studied multifaceted modes in which environmental sensibility was born and then developed into its modern forms. • A Study of James Hogg's Literary and Cultural Works in early 19th-century Scotland

  This research aims to examine the literary and cultural works of James Hogg, a Scottish poet and writer known as “Ettrick Shepherd” during the Romantic period. This study focuses not only on his literary works, but also on his extensive contributions to various periodicals and journals published in the early 19th century.
