• Land / Sea Eurasian Transport and the Formation of Muslim Traders' Diaspora Identity

  2021年度に予定していたデータ収集（アラビア語碑文と漢語史料の横断的分析）に基づく成果は、2021年度公刊の書籍の担当章（日本語）に執筆した。 このほか、中世インド洋貿易やゲニザ文書に関する研究書籍購入、「人類史における移動概念の再構築」オンライン研究会での成果発表（4/17）、日本ゲニザ学会のオンライン研究会・ワークショップへの参加などが主要な活動となった。エジプトのカイロのシナゴーグから発見された中世ユダヤアラビア語文書群、いわゆる「ゲニザ文書」は、本研究が特に関心をもつ9～14世紀のアラビア語文書を多く含み、本研究が行おうとする同時代のイスラム碑文読解のための重要な手がかりが含まれていることが分かった。6月13日（Elisha Russ-Fishbane氏）、10月2日（Elizabetha Lambourn氏）、11月7日（志田雅宏氏）、1月22日（嶋田英晴氏）のゲニザ入門講義では、中世インド洋貿易史家の講義を聞き、参照すべき新たな研究文献など情報を得ることができた。2022年2月17日～21日にかけて実施されたオンライン・ワークショップではゲニザ文書専門家のRachel Hasson博士による中世アラビア語の特徴を学習することができた。ヘブライ語で発表された中世アラビア語についての研究成果を知る貴重な機会となった。 なおこれらの入門講義やワークショップは本来対面で実施される予定であり、そのための出張費を計上していたが、コロナ禍のためにすべてオンラインに切り替えられた。実地調査は当初の予定でも初年度には計画しておらず、次年度以降に実施を予定している。, Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (C), 2021/04 -2026/03, Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (C), Doshisha University
• Basic research on port-cities and port-city states of Maritime Asia from the cross-regional perspectivel

  昨年度に引き続き、本研究では、海域アジア世界の歴史的展開を考えるうえでインド洋・地中海海域世界までを視野に入れ、「港市国家」を多角的に再検討するという目的から、琉球史・東アジア史・東南アジア史・イスラーム史・ヨーロッパ史の各観点から港市国家に関する先行研究状況の情報・研究・史料を収集することから共同研究をおこない、それぞれ相当量の先行研究成果を整理した。また、中国史を専門とする新規分担者が加入したことにより、中国における「港市」と社会・流通の関係も視野に入れることができた。 コロナ禍において実際に大人数が集まって研究会・共同調査をおこなうことが難しかったため、オンラインで月に一度定例の研究会を開催し、それぞれの専門の立場から港市国家や陶磁器流通などに関する報告をおこない、意見交換をおこなうことで、現地調査に先立つ基礎研究の土台形成をはかった。水中調査は引き続き2022年度も継続する予定である。 ５月28日から31日にかけては、琉球王国の港市調査の一環として、石垣島沖で石垣島の港湾・沈船遺跡に関する水中調査（潜水調査）を実施した。なお、本来は代表者である四日市も参加予定であったが、コロナ禍下であったため、九州・沖縄地方の分担メンバーのみで調査をおこなった。 一方で、2021年度に延期されていた海外港市調査のインドネシアのスマトラ島バンダアチェ、ジャンビの調査とイランのペルシャ湾ホルムズ王国遺跡調査はコロナ禍の蔓延状況を考慮して2022年度に再延期された。 このほか、中世博多遺跡、日中の鉄製品出土遺跡、琉球王朝などに関するシンポジウムや研究会、ワークショップに各分担者や代表者が参加し、内外の研究者と意見交換をおこなった。３月26日には、2021年度の総括ワークショップ「港市国家遺跡の比較研究に向けて」をクローズドで開催し、成果のとりまとめと今後の研究方針の確認をおこなった。, Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research, 2019/04 -2023/03, Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (B), Rikkyo University
• A New Introduction to History for Researchers, Teachers and Citizens

  For the purpose of renovating history education through a collaboration between high schools and universities, this project aimed at creating a model of the introductory course of historical research and the publication of a textbook for this course. Such course and textbook must be designed as what is readable/ understandable, not only to future professional scholars, but also students who wish to be teachers of primary and secondary education, and citizens and educated people who might be interested in history as well. Keeping in pace with world academia and domestic educational reform (in which the integration of Japanese history and world history was a big issue), many theoretical and historiographical surveys and commentaries were publicized, in such fields as global, regional and national histories, and gender history. A course model is now on trial.   This joint research was intended to provide a forum to compare and contrast the characteristics of and linkages between Asian empires and regional political and commercial networks in and around the East Asia maritime realm and the Indian Ocean from the 9th to the 19th centuries. Particular stress was placed upon examining the emergence and maintenance of empire-centred regional economic order, and the role of commercial and political networks in the creation and development of regional and state-level integration within empires.
